金靈®的抗發炎效果
發炎反應是感染時自然產生的免疫反應，但過度激烈的發炎反應可能會導致病情更加嚴重。
例如：受到 APP 感染的肺臟組織常存在大量具活性或壞死 (necrosis) 的白血球；白血球壞死時，會釋放促發炎細胞激素 (pro-inflammatory cytokines)，進而增加對肺臟組織的損傷並使呼吸功能惡化。
研究證實金靈®於肺臟組織中可促進白血球細胞凋亡 (apoptosis)，讓巨噬細胞將其清除，而非失控壞死，如此一來便能減少促發炎介質 (pro-inflammatory mediators) 的產生。金靈®抗發炎反應的特性不具特異性，對具敏感性的病原皆有相同效果3。
凋亡與壞死的區別
金靈®在 PRRS 感染時的抗發炎效果
PRRS 是導致豬呼吸疾病常見的病毒之一，PRRS 的感染會抑制巨噬細胞的吞噬功能，影響正常免疫反應，更導致巨噬細胞壞死，引發嚴重發炎反應。
研究發現，金靈®在 PRRS 存在的情況下仍能發揮免疫調節特性，促進受 PRRS 感染的巨噬細胞凋亡，抑制 PRRS 造成的細胞壞死2。金靈®同時能顯著降低促發炎反應訊號 (pro-inflammatory signaling) 產生並阻止 PRRS 抑制巨噬細胞吞噬的功能。
總結
針對會產生發炎反應的細菌性疾病，最佳的治療方式是同時針對感染源與宿主的免疫反應進行控制。金靈®藥效快速且作用持久，並同時能對抗發炎反應，是控制豬呼吸道疾病最有力的武器。
